Ex-national sailor Roy Tay is a successful Forex trader and coach. He used to compete for Singapore in the 470-class sailboat event. He then switched to 49erFX after winning a gold medal at the 2011 Southeast Asian Games. Soon after, he placed second at the 49erFX World Championship. He also won a gold medal at the 2015 SEA Games with partner Griselda Khng.
In the 2009 Olympics, the twin sister of a deceased Olympian, Eya Guezguez, was one of the youngest competitors. The accident happened when strong winds flipped their dinghy. Their coach was nearby and performed CPR on Eya. Thankfully, Sarra was also unharmed. The twins later competed in the 49er FX event at the Tokyo Olympics and finished 21st.
